On October 6th I ran the St. George Marathon in Utah. I didn't know if I was going to be able to run still at 22 week pregnant, but I was and actually felt pretty good on race day. I just took my training one week at a time, but everything worked out on race day and I got to run with my friend Cynthia for almost the whole thing, which helped me a ton. We have been planning this trip for years and I am glad it actually worked out. It was a couples trip so the guys biked and the girls ran. Wayne and Paula watched our girls for the weekend, which my girls loved. We left on Thursday afternoon and drove up with Cynthia and Scott. We got to St. George around midnight and discovered we had a really nice huge condo (score).
Friday morning the guys went mountain biking, and when they got back we went to lunch and then to the expo. We got our shirts and explored St. George a little bit and then on Friday night Lindy and Noah got there and we had a yummy pasta dinner at the condo.
Saturday was race day it started at 6:45 and the weather was perfect. The course seemed great until mile 7 when you hit the first big hill after that I think my legs where tired and I started the feel even the down hill. I didn't train for hills even though I knew they would be there, but I kind of wish I did (oh well) Cynthia and I saw our husbands around mile 15 they were biking on a trail along side the course. Reddin gave me more food and filled my water it was really nice. We saw them every few miles and they would see if we needed anything, and they followed us to the end. Having Reddin that close for the last 10 miles helped a lot. I wish he could always follow me, usually I see him one time between mile 13 to 17 and then at the end. I finish the race in 4 hours 46 min and I was happy to be done. I can now say I ran a marathon pregnant. Maybe this baby will like to run like I do someday.
After the race we went to five guys and then stopped for yummy sugar cookies, and then back to the condo. The girls showered and the guys went mountain biking. Reddin wrecked while on that ride and still has a hurt shoulder and huge bruise to show for it 2 weeks later, but he says it is getting better. We just ordered pizza for dinner that night and watched a movie, which I was glad about because my back was killing me. The next day we had a yummy breakfast and then packed up and drove home. It was a really fun trip I am glad we have such great friends.
