What battle do you choose?

I think as a parent you really do choose your battles when it comes to your kids. I do not think that there is a right or wrong way; I just think you have to figure out what works for you and try not to compare your kid or schedule to others. For me naptime is a battle I fight. I do not rock Payton to sleep instead I put her in her crib and let her fall asleep, which sometime involves crying for awhile. On the other hand I do not fight her when it comes to eating, I try not to force her to eat and lately I have decided that for breakfast if she wants to walk around with a banana and water that will work for me (see picture). I know we have several more battle to come in the near future, for example taking the pacifier away (or “pass” as Payton would say), and potting training, but I have decided I am not ready to fight those battles yet, but maybe in a month or so we might try. Overall, I love being a mom, and I truly believe that you learn as you go along.

I totally agree Karen and think it is like that with everything in life...husbands, careers, housework, on and on! You always have to ask yourself, "is this worth it?" By the way, I love the banana and water...what a cutie!

I can tell this has been on your mind lately. I'm glad you found something that works for you. I also think that sleeping is of the utmost importance- however, coop sometimes thinks singing in his bed counts??

Good job Karen. I recall the nap battle. When my oldest decided he was too old for a nap. I had three by then so my solution was to tell them they did not have to take a nap, they just had to be quiet so I could take one. I would put one on the left side of the bed on the floor with a book or toy and blanket and one on the right side of the bed and the little one on the bed with me. Guess what, we all got a nap every day.
