Important Lesson.

Yesterday we went to one of our annual Christmas parties and we had a blast. At this party you bring 21 little things and get 21 things in return. This year we brought little icicle ornaments that I made, and we came home with ornaments, Christmas music, and lots of goodies. This is one of my favorite parties and we had a great time until Payton hurt her arm. Her cousins were trying to help her up onto the trampoline and some how her arm got hurt. Reddin and I figured that it was not broken, and decided to wait until morning to see how it felt before we took her to the doctor. She cried a lot and had a hard time going to sleep and then woke up crying in the middle of the night, so I figured something must be wrong. This morning she came down stairs and I asked her if her arm was okay and she told me it did not work. She was not crying anymore, but she would not use it. It was so sad watching her try to do things one handed (get on the couch, hold a book, or play with the TV remote). I decided that I should probably take her to the doctor so I made an appointment. Later Payton came and told me that her arm was okay you just could not touch it or move it (getting her dressed was not fun). Anyways I took her to doctor and after trying a few time and after some more crying they were able to get her elbow back in the socket. I guess they see that kind of thing in the ER all the time, because parents lift their kids up by their arms or catch them by their arm if they are falling. Within a few minutes Payton felt better, she got a sucker and we were done. I am so glad that I took her in and that they fixed it right there. I thought we might have to go get X-rays. This day did teach me a lesson, I need to remember to be more careful, because I do lift Payton up by her arms, and I really do not want to take her back to the doctor anytime soon.

It's OKAY. Really. Dislocated arms/elbows/shoulders happen all the time. Manda did it once. And once it happens, it's easier to happen again because the ligaments or whatever are stretched a little, so don't be surprised if it happens again. Don't feel bad!
