MRI Result

Today I got a phone call from Kayda's doctor. He was calling to give me the results of her MRI I was expecting him to say that it was extra fatty tissue like they thought and sometime in the future we should think about taking it out. Instead I was asked if I could come and meet him today (that is never good). He said that the results were not good and we needed to come up with a plan on what to do next. I asked if they thought it was cancer and he said that is the main concern. This is never news any parents wants to hear, especially one that is tyring to get ready for a long trip and a marathon in one day, but what can you do. I spent most of the morning crying and trying to figure out what to do. I am grateful for all my wonderful friends and family that are so willing to help.

I am still a little emotional, but I am feeling a lot better now. Reddin and I meet with the doctor and they said that the results of the MRI are inconclusive, but that it looks like it is a sarcoma (that is soft tissue Cancer). The plan is to try to remove all of it if possible, but if that is not possible then he will do surgery to get a small piece of it so they can do a biopsy, if it is cancer then they will need to start chemotherapy. Our doctor is going to meet with an oncologist and a orthopedic surgeon this week to come up with a plan and they are going to try to operate on May 3rd if possible. I am still hoping and praying that it is not cancer and we are all hoping they can get the whole mass out without damaging any nerves or muscles in her arm. My poor sweet little girl, she has no idea what is in store from her when we get back from our trip.

Wow, how scary! I will pray that it all turns out OK. Hopefully the surgeons can get it all out, and that be the end of it.

I am not a crier, but I have a few tears in my eyes. Karen, I really hope she will be okay. Before becoming a mom, I would have felt sad. But now that I am a mom, OH MY GOSH, that would be so hard. Life is so insane sometimes.

Miss ya!

Karen, our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Elder Oaks gave an amazing talk in conference (the priesthood session) about healing the sick. I also found an older quote of his related to healing:

"Healing blessings come in many ways, each suited to our individual needs, as known to Him who loves us best. Sometimes a 'healing' cures our illness or lifts our burden. But sometimes we are 'healed' by being given strength or understanding or patience to bear the burdens placed upon us."

Oh Karen! That is awful!! With all your previous updates I wasn't concerned at all... just like you, I figured it was fat. Collin has a soft bump on the back of his leg that the doctor told us is probably just fatty tissue. Now I'm worried about that too! A parent's worst nightmare for sure. I can't sympathize enough! We will definitely be praying constantly for her and for you. We love you and hope the best. Good luck on your run!!
